New seedings with 007, 777, 007XL, Flagstick, MacKenzie or Tyee Creeping Bents, Total Renovations or New Golf Courses.

The bentgrass varieties 007, 777, 007XL, MacKenzie and Tyee were developed in part with financial support received from the United States Golf Associatin (USGA).

For each golf course listed below the superintendent did his own homework evaluating current bentgrass options.   Each superintendent identified what they felt was best for their golf course.

Listed are some courses that have seeded either 007, 777, 007XL, Flagstick, MacKenzie or Tyee bentgrasses:

Black Desert Resort Golf Course, St. George, UT -- Seeded greens to 007XL bentgass and fairways and tees with the Dominator seed blend (007 / 777 bent varieties), May 2022.

Limestone Springs GC, Oneonto, AL -- All greens re-grassed and seeded to 007XL in December 2021.The new greens will be opened for play in July 2022 approximately 28 weeks after seeding.

The Ledges Golf Club in Birmingham, AL --  In October of 2021 a 10,000 square foot trial green was seeded to 007XL creeping bentgrass. The original A-1 greens were seeded in the year 2000. The Ledges is looking to 2023 or 2024 for a total re-surfacing of the greens with a new bentgrass variety.  The new 007XL trial green was opened for play in early April 2022.

The Lido Golf Course, at Sand Valley, WI -- The greens will feature a bentgrass seed blend of 65% 007 with 35% Flagstick -- these two "Super Bents" will provide the highest quality putting surfaces.  The fairways will be seeded to an all fine fescue turf to include slender creeping red, creeping red, Chewings and hard fescues -- all Seed Research of Oregon improved varieties. Opening spring of 2023.

Rain Dance National Golf Club, CO -- This Harrison Minchew / Fred Funk Design features 007XL bentgrass greens -- seeded in the summer / fall 2021.  

River Bend Club, Great Falls, VA - Luke Fisher, Golf Course Superintendent, seeded a new 14,000 square foot putting green with 007XL bentgrass -- September 2021.

Union League National Golf Club, near Cape May Court House, NJ -- total course renovation for 27 holes with greens and fairways seeded / sodded to 007 bentgrass. 

Lianerch Golf Club, Haevertown, near Philadelphis, PA - Brian Schneider (Tom Doak) renovation in 2019 and 2020.  Redesigned green complexes on this historic 100 year old golf course. Regrassing greens with 007 bentgrass. New fairway areas and tees sodded with 007 bentgrass.

Seven Oaks Country Club, Bakersfield, CA - Tom Lipscomb, Golf Course Superintendent, has a greens renovation project, summer 2021 --  On the Island (West) nine holes.  007XL to be seeded on the new greens.

Headwater Golf Club, Cashiers, NC - Scott Comlin, Golf Course Superintent, seeded a new practice green with 777 bentgrass in April, 2021.

Waynesville Inn and Golf Resort, NC - A Bobby Weed renovation starting in the fall of 2021.  New greens seeded to 007XL in the summer of 2022. Fairways and tees seeded to 007 / 777. 

The Camargo Club, Cincinnati, OH - To resurface all greens with 007XL bentgrass -- fall 2022. The Colin Boyd turf farm in western PA will grow the sod for use at Camargo in 2022 -- sodding all greens in 2022. 

Old Toccoa Farm, GA - Located in the mountains of north Georga is a very special golf and river community. 007 bentgrass was selected for seeding the greens. 

Park Mammoth Golf Course, Park City, KY - Colton Craig -- Golf Course Architect is designing a total course renovation to feature 777 (Triple Seven) bentgrass greens --- summer 2020.

Erin Hills Golf Club, WI --  Zach Reineking, Director of Course Maintenance, is supervising the conversion of the fine fescue fairways to 007 / Flagstick creeping bentgrass in July of 2020.

Belmont Golf Club, Richmond, VA - The First Tee of Greater Richmond will be renovating this centruy old (1916) golf course and transforming it into a six hole executive course and utilize the remaining 12 holes as a public golf course.  The greens will be totally rebuilt and seeded to 777 (Triple Seven) bentgrass -- summer of 2020.

Oakland Hills Country Club, South Course, MI -  Oakland Hills has hosted several high-profile events over the years, including six U.S. Opens, three PGA Championships and the Ryder Cup in 2004. The U.S. Amateur took place there in 2016.  Phil Cuffare, Director of Agronomy at Oakland Hills will direct the 2020 course renovation and has selected a bentgrass blend that includes 007 and 777 bentgrasses for seeding greens with tees and fairways seeded to 007 and Flagstick bents. The course will reopen for members play in the spring of 2021.

The Summit Club, Henderson, NV -- Scott Lewis, Golf Course Superintendent, seeded the greens to a blend of 007 / Tyee bentgrasses on this Tom Fazio design.

North Shore CC, Glenview, IL -  Dan Dinelli, Golf Course Superintendent, researched extensively with "on site" bentgrass variety trials for use with his selection criteria for regrassing greens at North Shore CC.  Dan identified 007, Flagstick and MacKenzie to be seeded as a three way seed blend on his new greens -- seeded in the fall of 2018. 

Sand Valley Resort, Nekoosa, WI - Located on 1700 acres of vast tumbling 14,000 year old sand dunes featuring unique dunes scape native and natural vegetation. Sand Valley brings the playing style of a Scottish links to the heartland of America.  Three courses,  Sand Valley (2017), The Sandbx - short course (2017) and Mammoth Dunes (2018).  All courses were seeded to fine fescue fairways and roughs and 007 / SR1119 creeping bentgrass greens.

Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, Nichols  Hills, OK -  Nathan Neumann, Golf Course Superintendent has supervised a restoration project that was completed in 2019 with a August seeding of the greens with 007 bentgrass. 

The Country Club of Virginia, James River Course, Richmond, VA - Christian Sain, Director of Golf Course Maintenance has reported, "We have a PGA Tour Champions event scheduled for October 18 - 20, 2019.  Immediately after this Dominion Energy Charity Classic is completed we will start the greens renovation.  This will consist of stripping all greens and resurfacing with 777 sod.  The 777 turf is being custom grown for use at a Delmarva sod farm in Maryland on the Eastern Shore."  After the returfing of the greens the course is scheduled to reopen for members play in late May 2020. 

Merion Golf Club, East Course, Philidelphia, PA - Merion Golf Club East Course reopened on June 20, 2019 after a total course renovation under the direction of Architect Gil Hanse - 2018. The new putting surfaces on all greens were seeded to a creeping bentgrass blend consisting of 60% 007, 20% Piranha and 20% L93XD. The fairways and tees were seeded to 50% 007, 25% Luminary and 25% Barracuda.  Additionally, because of erosion concerns fairways on Holes No. 11 and 12 were sodded to 100% 007 bentgrass.  

American Dunes Golf Club (formerly Grand Haven Golf Club), Grand Haven, MI - Jack Nicklaus total renovation with the greens seeded to 777 (Triple Seven) bentgrass and the tees and fairways to Flagstick bentgrass. Nine holes to open in 2020 with the remianing nine in 2021.

Chiricahua golf course at Desert Mountain, AZ -  In the summer of 2019 the greens were renovated and seeded to a combination of 007 and MacKenzie bentgrasses.

The Club at Olde Stone, Bowling Green, KY -  Director of Grounds Wyatt Warfel has selected 777 (Triple Seven) bentgrass for seeding in April, 2019. The new project includes seeding a nine hole par 3 course and a 24,000 square feet putting green with 777 bentgrass.  Olde Stone is recognized as a top ten course in the state of Kentucky.  

Northwood Club, Dallas, TX -  A Trip Davis Golf Architect renovation / redesign has been recognized as the Best Country Club in Dallas / Forth Worth, TX (2019). The new greens were seeded to 007 bentgrass.

Minikahda Club, Minneapolis, MN - Jeff Johnson, golf course superintendent, has a planned greens and fairway renovation project, July - August, 2018.  The greens will be stripped, tilled then apply Basamid to fumigate the soil prior to seeding 007 bentgrass the third week of August. Fairways to be seeded with a combination of 007 / 1150 bents. 

Arcadian Bluffs, South Course, Arcadia, MI - Jim Bluck, golf course superintendent, selected 007 bentgrass for seeding greens, tees and fairways on the new South course designed by golf course architect, Dana Fry.  Jim advised that Dana "has mentioned a number of times that this grow-in happened faster than any other project he has been involved in."  Jim reported "the 007 fairways are phenomenal in terms of the density and how upright the turf is." Further, Jim made this comment, "I am so happy with my grassing choice and I am looking forward to learning more about the management of this variety."  The South course will open for play on August 1, 2018.

Shady Oaks Country Club, Fort Worth, TX -  Brent Doolittle, golf course superintendent, supervised construction of a new nine hole par 3 course in the summer and fall of 2016 completing this project in the spring of 2017.  The greens were built to the size of a regulation golf course. Of the nine greens seeded each received a single variety. Two greens were seeded with 007 bentgrass, two with Luminary and two with AU Auburn. One green each was seeded to 777, V8, and L-93XD.  Judging the performance results of these nine greens Brent has sellected 777 bentgrass for a scheduled 2020 renovation on his regulation 18 hole golf course.

Crestwick Country Club, Bloomington, IL - 2016 total renovation and regrassing of greens and fairways with 007 bentgrass.

Torrey Pines, San Diego, CA - The North Course received a total renovation in 2016 under the direction of Tom Weiskopf, golf course architect.  As a part of the golf course renovation the North greens were totally rebuilt and seeded to 007 / Tyee bentgrasses. During the last week of January 2017 Torrey Pines hosted a PGA tour event with players using both the North and South courses during the first two rounds of tournament play.  For rounds three and four the South course, with Poa annua greens, was played by all of the Pro's who made the cut.  With both North and South courses used during the same PGA event this allowed a direct comparison of putting surfaces.  The comments from PGA Pro's have been extremely positive on how smooth and firm the new 007 / Tyee greens have played. 

The Summit, Las Vegas, NV - The Summit is a new private, luxury gated golf community located on 555 acres in Summerlin, Las Vegas. The project is designed as a premier master planned community situated nine miles from the Las Vegas strip.  The golf course is a Fazio design with greens seeded to 007 / Tyee bentgrasses in September 2016.

Old Toccoa Farm, Mineral Bluff, GA -  This North Georgia mountain course was opened for play in 2015 with 007 greens and Zoysia fairways. The golf course winds through 125 acres of ridges and meadows with views of the Chattahoochee and Cherokee National Forests.

Moraine Country Club, OH - Since 1930 this restored (2014 - 2015) Scotish links style course was seeded to 100% 007 fairways - uniform, disease resistant closely maintained bentgrass turf. 

Brentwood Country Club, Los Angeles, CA - Renovated greens in summer of 2015 and re-opened for play in November 2015.  Greens seeded to 70% Tyee and 30% 007 bentgrasses.

Los Angeles Country Club South Course, CA - Seeded new greens to 70% Tyee and 30% 007 bentgrasses in December 2015, expect a Summer / Fall 2016 re opening.

Sherwood Country Club, Thousand Oaks, CA - Jack Nicklaus project, greens seed to 50% 007 50% Tyee bentgrasses. Re opened for play in March of 2016.  Will host the PGA Tour QQQ Tour Championship in October 2017 and 2018.

Penn Oaks Country Club, Philadelphia, Pa - Penn Oaks "lost their greens" in June 2015 due to an application of a "tainted" chemical spray manufactured by a Chinese company. The pesticide spray was so damaging to the greens (dead and unplayable) that the course had to close for the 2015 season. Club management decided to take this opportunity to initiate a total renovation of the greens and reseed with 100% 007 bentgrass in September 2015.

Skokie Country Club, Chicago, IL - Chicagoland area Certified Golf Course Superintendent Don Cross reports that after testing and researching varieties of bentgrass he will be seeding his renovated greens and fairways with 100% 007 creeping bentgrass in early August 2015. Update, as of July 7, 2016 the greens at Skokie are now .105 height of cut, seeded August 2015. Skokie is an example of an exceptional renovation / regrassing with 007 bent.

Skyway Golf Course at Lincoln Park West, NJ - In 2014 this stylish nine hole golf course with three par threes, three par fours and three par fives was  built in Jersey City with views of the Manthattan skyline.  This public golf course was opened for play in June 2015. Greens were seeded to 007 bentgrass.

Davenport Country Club, Davenport, Iowa -  Dean Starks, golf course superintendent, supervised the course renovation in 2014 under the directon of Forse Design, Ron Forse and Jim Nagel.  The 1924 golf course with push up greens was regrassed to 50% 007 50% Tyee bents on greens with the tees and fairways seeded to 007 bentgrass.

Wynstone Golf Club, North Barrington, IL - Ben McGargill, golf course superintendent, supervised a total greens renovation in 2014 and seeded with 75% 007 with 25% Tyee bentgrasses.  007 sod was shipped from East Coast Sod in NJ for use on collars and greens approach areas.

Baltimore Country Club East Course, MD -   BCC is know as "Five Farms", the East course greens and fairways will be totally regrassed starting July 13, 2014.  100% 007 creeping bentgrass has been selected for seeding greens and fairways.  Timothy Kennelly, CGCS, is the Head Greenkeeper.

Conway Farms Golf Club, Lake Forrest, IL -  Greens renovation project scheduled for August 2014. Greens will be reseeded with a combination of 90% 007 and 10% Tyee creeping bentgrasses.  Conway Farms is scheduled to host the BMW Championship on the PGA tour in September 2015.

Oaks Country Club, Tulsa, OK - Total greens renovation has been planned with a August 2014 seeding of greens using 007 bentgrass. Dan Robinson, Golf Course Superintendent.

Ridgemoor Country Club, Chicago, IL - Total golf course renovation by Rik Jacobsen and associates, golf course architects.  The facility was closed on July 27, 2014 and is scheduled to reopen in the spring of 2015.. Two new greens and one putting green will be constructed and seeded to 007 bentgrass.  Remainder of greens on the golf course to be gased and regrassed with 007 bentgrass.  Fairways to be sterilized with Basimid and seeded with 007 bentgrass.  All tees to be regrassed using 007 bentgrass after rebuilting, enlargement with some relocation of tees.  Bunkers will be rebuilt with new sand added.  Josh Langell is the Golf Course Superintendent.  Update, as of July 7, 2016 the new 007 greens, fairways and tees are uniform, tight, and very impressive.  Ridgemoor is another example of a quality renovation / regrassing using 007 bent.

Ferry Point Golf Links (Trump operated), NYC -  Located in New York City, this Jack Nicklaus design / Donald Trump operated golf course is scheduled to open in late 2014 or Spring 2015.  Greens seeded using 100% 007 creeping bentgrass.  SR fescues have been used for seeding roughs and meadow areas.

Summit Rock GC (Horseshoe Bay Resort), TX - This Nicklaus Design, located in the Hill Country of Texas, secheduled its grand opening on 10/30/2012.  The greens were seeded with 007 bentgrass and has 419 Bermudagrass fairways.  Ken Gorzycki, Directory of Agronomy.

Vaquero Club, TX - This Fazio design has Zoysia fairways and the greens were resurfaced in 2012 using 007 bentgrass.

SentryWorld golf course, WI -  Total course renovation in 2013 by golf architect Rober Trent Jones II. Greens seeded to 100% 007 creeping bentgrass.  Scheduled to reopen in August 2014.

St. Clair Country Club, IL - Jeremy Klotz, golf course superintendent outlines the Sept. 2013 greens renovation at the St. Clair Country Club.  The plan was to renovate and seed 007 bentgrass on the original 1920 push-up greens from the old Poa annua / Bent mixed turf growing in soil that exibited layering and were poorly drained.

University Ridge GC (University of Wisconsin), WI - This RTJ II design in 1991 had the greens resurfaced in August 2012 with 007 bentgrass.  Jerry Kershasky Golf Course Superintendent.

Biltmore Country Club, IL - Greens regrassed, late August 2013 seeding, with 007 bentgrass, Brian Thomson Golf Course Superintendent.

Philadelphia Cricket Club, Wissahickon course, PA - June 2013 total renovation to include seeding fairways with 100% 007 creeping bentgrass.  Newly renovated course open for play on Memorial day 2014.  Dan Meersman, Director of Grounds.

Two Rivers CC, VA - Original construction in 1992, course renovation in 2013 with greens seeded to 007 bentgrass.  Brent Graham, Director of Golf maintenance.

Poppy Hills GC, CA - This RTJ II design is undergoing a course renovation in 2013 / 2014, new greens will be seeded to a Tyee / 007 bentgrass blend.

Amarillo Country Club, TX - Open for play September 2013 with 100% 007 greens.  Tees and fairways: Thermal bluegrass and ryegrass.  Rough:  Thermal bluegrass, ryegrass and tall fescue.  Native areas:  SR3150 and SR3210 fescue.  Nathan Neumann, Golf Course Superintendent.

Wichita Falls Country Club, TX -  Completed a total course renovation in 2008, greens seeded with 100% 007 creeping bentgrass.

Nathan Neumann, Golf Course Superintendent, Wichita Falls Country Club, Texas reports,

"The 007 is doing very well, still on my regular verticutting and topdressing program.  My HOC is 0.125.  Handwatering spots as they appear.  These were taken on Memorial Day weekend (2011) when our high temperatures were 108 and 110 (F) for the weekend."

Nathan also commented, "The USGA Agronomist from our region visited the club a few weeks ago, and was extremely impressed with the 007.  He told my greens committee that if they did not like this putting surface, they should probably take up bowling instead.  Thought that was a great compliment.  He was impressed with the overall quality, performance, and turf heath with the daily speeds we are achieving."

Tulsa Country Club, OK - Gas and regrass existing greens and re seeded to 50% Tyee and 50% 007 creeping bents (October 2010).

Metedeconk National GC, NJ - Gas and regrass nine (9) greens to 50% 007, 25% A-1, 25% A-4.  Sodded five greens using the same bentgrass mix (August - November 2012).  October 2011 sodded four greens and seeded two others using the same bentgrass mix.  Bentgrass sod was "home grown" using sod grown on a golf course nursery.

Burning Tree Golf Club, MD - Gas and regrass existing greens and re seeded to 007 creeping bentgrass (August 2010).

Hazeltine National Golf Club, MN - Closed the golf course in July 2010, killed the grass on the fairways.  Fairways seeded with 007 and SR 1119 creeping bentgrass and SR 1050 Chewings fescue.  Golf course scheduled to open in June, 2011.

Greenbriar Hills Country Club, MO - Gas and regrass existing greens and re seeded to 007 creeping bentgrass (September 2010).

Country Club of Detriot, MI - Total regrassing of the golf course re seeding tees and fairways with 007 creeping bentgrass (Summer of 2010).

Dallas Country Club, TX - Greens renovation using a 70% Tyee with 30% 007 (September 2010).

Los Angeles Country Club, CA - Renovation of 18 greens reseeding using 70% Tyee and 30% 007 ceeping bents (Spring 2010).

The Olympic Club, CA - Recently renovated 18 greens with contract custom grown West Coast Turf - sod - seeded to 70% Tyee and 30% 007 creeping bent (fall 2009 - winter 2010).

Medianah Country Club, IL -  Completed renovation of 18 holes (2009 - 2010).  Greens were seeded using 70% 007 and 30% SR1119.  Fairways seeded to 50% 007, 30% SR1119 creeping bents and 20% SR1150 Colonial bentgrass.

Preston Trail Golf Club, TX - Completed a total course renovation in October 2009, seeded  greens to 100% Tyee creeping bentgrass.

Forest Ridge Golf Club, OK- New 100% Tyee greens sodded in September 2010.  Tyee was seeded at the sod farm in April of 2012, in sand.  The new sodded greens are sand based, and were aerified twice in the fall of 2010, two times in the spring of 2011, once in the fall of 2011, once in the spring and fall of 2012.  Greens have been topdressed once a week from April to late fall.

Wedgewood Cove GC, MN - New golf course established in 2009 using 100% 007 bentgrass to seed the greens.

Desert Mountain Golf Properties, AZ - The Cochise Course at Desert Mountain totally renovated 18 greens in June / July 2008 using custom grown sod produced by West Coast Turf, seeded October 2007 to 50% 007, 25% SR 119, and 25% Brighton creeping bentgrass. 

The Gallery Golf Resort, AZ - The North course greens were renovated in 2008 with the greens seeded to 50% 007, 25% SR1119 and 25% Brighton creeping bentgrass.

CC of Ashville, NC -  Converted fairways to 100% 007 creeping bentgrass in 2008.

Ballyhack GC, VA - New course seeded in 2008 with Tyee greens and 007 bentgrass fairways.

Harmony GC, CO - New course seeded in 2007 with 100% 007 bentgrass greens.

Wilmington CC, DE - Total 18 hole renovation completed in 2008 with Tyee greens and 007 bentgrass fairways.

Tavistock CC, NJ - Total 18 hole renovation completed in 2007 with Tyee greens and 100% 007  bentgrass tees and fairways. 

River Bend Country Club, VA - Total renovation of 18 holes completed in October of 2010.  Greens to be seeded with 100% 007 and fairways established using 23 acres of 007 custom grown sod.

International sites using 007, 777 or Tyee creeping bentgrass:

Mount Lawley Golf Club, Perth, Australia -  Rod Tatt, Golf Course Superintendent, exicuted a low tech greens resurfacing project in April - May 2020.  During the Australian Covid country shut down Rod sprayed each green with Endothal herbidicde to kill the existing turf. Rod also applied Primo Max to slow down the growth of the existing bentgrass in the green. Next was to aerify and verticut each green surface and then seed with 007 bentgrass.  In August and September applications of Poa Cure was applied to eliminate Poa annua that germinated along with the 007.  Rod has reported that the Poa Cure is working and the Poa is melting away allowing the 007 to fill in to provide a uniform bentgrass putting surface.  

Cottesloe Golf Club, Perth, Australia -  Following a Graham Marsh course master plan five holes, No. 3,5,6,7,8 will be renovated and regrassed with 777 bentgrass starting in October 2019. This follows establishing a 777 nursery and regrassing the par three 19th hole in July 2019. This mulityear greens regrassing project will be completed in phases during the years 2020 and 2021.

Grand PGM Chiyoda Country Club, Tokyo, Japan - Ryota Matumoto, golf course superintendent, supervised a total regrassing of 18 greens in May of 2018 seeding 777 (Triple Seven) bentgrass. The new fine textured, dense and uniform greens were opened for play in October 2018. 

Hirono Golf Club, Kobe, Japan - Japans greatest golf course. This 1932 classic C.H. Alison (of Colt and Alison) design was totally restored by the English architect Mackenzie & Ebert in 2019.  The new greens were seeded to 007 / 777 bentgrass -- sold as Super7seed in Japan. 

Gelendzhik Golf Resort, Glendzhik, Russia -  This new golf course is the first one in southern Russia on the Black Sea. Michael Puchkov, Director of Russian Golf Design hired the American shaper Brian Smith and Dr. Hurley for agronomy.  The greens will be seeded to 777 bentgrass, with 007 tees and fairways to a bentgrass blend. The roughts will be turf type tall fescue.  Seeding started in July 2018 with a opening date scheduled for summer 2019.

Lake Karrinyup, Perth, Australia - A total rebuild and seeding of the greens with 007 bentgrass directed under the supervision of golf course superintendent Fraser Brown and golf course architect Mike Cocking.  The front nine seeded in July of 2017 and the back nine in 2018.

Wentworth Golf Club, West course, Surrey, England - Total rebuilding and renovation of the greens, under the direction of Ernie Els golf course architect firm.  007 greens seeded summer of 2016, expected to reopen for play spring of 2017.

Steyn City Resort, Johannesburg, South Africa - Exclusive developed residential community set around a championship golf course, opened for play in 2014.  The fairways and tees were seeded to 007 bentgrass.

Lebovic Golf Club, Aurora, Ontario, Canada - 007 bentgrass fairways and tees. Seeded during the summers of 2014 and 2015 the course opened for play in May of 2016.

Kasumigaseki Golf Club, Saitama prefecture, Tokyo, Japan - For the 2020 summer Olympic games, Tom Fazio, famed American golf course architect, is renovating the Kasumigaseki golf course in preparation to host the Olympics. The course renovation started in 2015 and is expected to be completed during the 2016 season. As part of the plan a total greens renovation and reseeding to 100% 007 creeping bentgrass.
